As many of you know, recently the first ever soapbox race in Williams Lake was held. Westen Becker piloted his Horsepower Hooligan sponsored number 13 car in competition and although the racing prize was not to be his that day he won top honors for "coolest car". We have set the bar for that prize and next year will be hard pressed to keep it. so here is a place to discuss what cars to build next year and how to do it in a big way. Westen in his car Now, what worked well The wheelbarrow theme, the tires work well and the tub made a t-bucket type build a natural. The steering was great, not twitchy at all like some other cars The tow hook, sounds simple but we were the only ones that had one, the rope even went in the pick up bed so I didn't have to pack it down the hill to get him It looked awesome and Westen didn't even get to see it until right before the race, it was cool What didn't work We didn't give ourselves enough time, no testing and half a car 24 hours before the race made it feel just like real racing The steering linkage works great but looks pretty frail to me, I know how to fix this and will have to keep it in mind when we build more cars The brake, the piece of crap didn't work and even broke first run. I figure on steel instead of wood and hockey pucks for wear surfaces next year

Hook up a small battery and wire the headlights and tail lights to work like we talked about earlier. That would put his car over the top next year Oh and new bearings
